Olivia is an Attorney Investigator with Van Dermyden Makus Law Corporation.

Olivia’s practice focuses on conducting neutral investigations into harassment, discrimination, retaliation and other workplace misconduct. Olivia is also an experienced investigator in higher education and K-12 Title IX sexual misconduct claims.

From small businesses to large public agencies, Olivia’s investigations are thoughtful, detail-oriented, and strategic. Olivia’s experience spans across many industries including legal, medical, public safety, medical, government, media, and insurance.

Trained in Trauma Informed Forensic Interviewing, Olivia is an experienced investigator in Title IX sexual misconduct and harassment claims. Olivia has experience in investigating University faculty, underage complainants, stalking allegations, and complex issues involving incapacitation and consent.

Olivia joined Van Dermyden Makus in 2023 as a Law Clerk. Prior to joining Van Dermyden Makus, Olivia counseled employees on discrimination, harassment, and retaliation claims at the University of San Diego Workers’ Rights Clinic. She also gained experience analyzing employment matters as a Judicial Extern for the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, where she recommended rulings on employment cases. Earlier in her career, Olivia worked at a civil litigation firm that specialized in a broad range of practice areas, providing her with diverse legal experience.

Olivia graduated cum laude from the University of San Diego School of Law. During law school, Olivia served as an executive board member on the Journal of Climate and Energy Law and Pride Law. She received three CALI Excellence for the Future Awards for her high achievements in various writing courses. Olivia is passionate about pro bono work, including her leadership role in the University of San Diego Name and Gender-Marker Change Clinic.
